Nicole once joked that if Treb were to ever buy her a ring it could come from a gumball machine for all she cared. So, after about five years of dating, Treb had a sweet surprise for his girlfriend. “After lunch in William Land Park, he brought out an ice cream cone, packed in dry ice. It was mint chip (my favorite),” she fondly remembers. “I didn’t know it, but at the bottom of that cone was a gorgeous wedding ring encased in a small gumball machine toy container.” Not far off, a photographer captured the entire occasion, with Treb later surprising her with a canvas of his proposal.
If their engagement wasn’t already “sweet” enough, the couple had big plans for their wedding day. “I had seen a candy buffet in a magazine and fell in love with it,” Nicole says. “It was so different and unique, especially with color coordinated candy to match our chocolate brown and teal scheme.”
Nicole recalls how she and Treb both equally enjoyed the planning process. “I am such a detail-oriented person,” she says, “and I get really excited coming up with ideas and details. Treb encouraged me to envision my dream wedding and run with it...so I did!” She thanks Catriona Arcularius from Arcularius Events for her assistance in helping make those dreams come true. “She was very helpful in executing our visions and bringing them to life. Her help also allowed us to enjoy the day of our wedding, knowing she had every little detail under control.”
The ceremony took place at The Citizen Hotel under an archway draped in shantung silk fabric and decorated with candlelit glass lanterns and exotic flowers. “The Camellia String Quartet played an assortment of tunes from the Muppet’s theme song to “Canon in D,” which I walked down the aisle to,” Nicole says. “We decided to have our wedding party surround the arch as we exchanged vows. It was such a warm and loving feeling to have them so close to us.”
The guests moved on to a reception on the hotel’s terrace, with breathtaking views of downtown Sacramento and the Capitol. “It was such a great night for weather, we had such a nice breeze coming through,” she remembers. A highlight of the evening occurred when the groomsmen and groom’s father were introduced by the DJ, and they broke out in to a choreographed dance for the guests. “Treb had choreographed the dance himself as well as mixed the music together,” she says. “He has worked on the dance for weeks but only had 24 hours to teach all his groomsmen. So they stayed up until 4 a.m. the night before learning the dance. Even Treb’s father Bobby busted out doing the Robot!”
Above all, Nicole notes that their favorite part of the night was their sparkling exit. “After the last dance, the DJ asked our guests to grab a sparkler and meet at the entrance of the hotel. All our guests formed a pathway for us to exit as they lit their sparklers. We exited the hotel and waved goodbye to them as they cheered us on.”
Little did Nicole know but the best was yet to come. Alone in the Governor’s Suite with the Capitol glowing behind them, Treb got down on one knee and brandished another wedding band. “He asked me to marry him all over again.”

Anything else about your wedding? Our photographer Lisa Richmond was amazing. We had originally learned about her through a friend's wedding. When we first met with her we knew we had to have her. She has such a unique eye and captured some of the most gorgeous pictures that we could have ever hoped for! Lisa did our engagement pictures as well, and we knew from the turnout of those, that our wedding pictures would be awesome and they were! We would HIGHLY recommend her! Every time we met with Lisa she was so comfortable to be around. It didn't feel like we were taking pictures with a photographer more like a friend! Her work speaks for itself! AMAZING!
