Originally, Christy and Jonathan Frame met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. “I thought he was pretty cute, and I guess he thought I was cute too,” Christy says. An email exchange and a couple of phone calls later, Jonathan asked Christy out on a date to the San Francisco Zoo. “We had such a great time, and I felt like I got to know him a lot. I sort of knew what the relationship was going to be like after that,” she recalls.
It didn’t take long from that first date for the couple to know they had something special. “I kept waiting for something bad to happen; some argument, or strange quirk, but nothing bad ever came. We never fought and still don’t. I just knew he was the person I could spend a lifetime with because our temperaments meshed so well,” Christy explains.
Their similar personalities, values and dreams convinced Jonathan that his search for a lifelong love was also over. On Easter Sunday in 2008, the couple was in Jonathan’s hometown of Clarksburg. They decided to go on a stroll near his home where they came upon a huge magnolia tree that they had both climbed the first day Christy visited him in Clarksburg. “He suggested we climb the tree again. I wasn’t in the mood for some reason, but he eventually convinced me to go up.” Jonathan climbed too. Among the branches, about halfway up the tree, Christy found a couple of plastic Easter eggs. In one, was her engagement ring. “He proposed in that tree, though not on bended knee, of course!” Christy says with a smile.
A little over a year later, the big day had finally arrived. Friends and family gathered at the private residence of the Frame’s dear friends in Clarksburg. “I was excited but extremely nervous!” Christy explains how she felt walking down the aisle. “I’m not used to being in the spotlight. Jonathan was pretty cool, though he admits that he got nervous as he started to put on his tuxedo.”
But all nerves subsided once the couple met at the end of the aisle. The minister who officiated the ceremony is Christy’s second cousin and particularly special because he also officiated her parent’s wedding ceremony and baptized her as a baby.
The surroundings were picturesque, lending themselves naturally to the wedding’s bird and tree themed décor. The couple said their I-dos atop a hill overlooking a slough and vineyards in the distance. Although they were expecting the typical heat of a Sacramento June, the day was overcast and quite windy. “But the sky cleared and turned blue right as we said our vows,” Christy says.
Later, guests of the Frames enjoyed a cocktail hour on the veranda of the house and a reception in a large grassy area also on the property, where they set up a dance floor, as well, and shared their first dance as husband and wife to Etta James’s “At Last.” “We had taken some dancing lessons to prepare, but the lessons only seemed to make us worse dancers than we were before!” Christy laughs, looking back. “We were both nervous and thought that we probably looked a mess out there, but people said we looked fine.”

Any tips you'd give to brides and grooms planning their wedding: Stay organized; do as much as you can early (the best vendors ALWAYS book up early!) and stay realistic -- things may not go exactly like you planned or had dreamed of, but don't sweat the little things! Have fun with it!
Anything else about your wedding? I would highly recommend every single one of our vendors! They did a fantastic job, and we didn't have to worry about anything.
What would you have done differently if you had the chance? I'm not really sure -- I think everything turned out beautifully!
