Candace met Zac while they were co-workers at Linens ‘n Things. “I was recently out of a relationship when I noticed Zac had been paying me some attention,” she says. “He was not the typical guy I had dated. Zac was not aggressive, but rather sensitive and hilarious.” The couple got engaged after a romantic cruise to Mexico in 2008, and soon after began planning their wedding.
Both vegetarians, Candace and Zac knew coming up with a creative menu would be a challenge. “I wanted to be able to eat at my own wedding!” she says. “The food we picked was wonderful.” Candace notes the planning process in general was pretty much flawless. “My two best friends were pregnant. Congrats for them, but it made [bridesmaid] dress shopping impossible,” she smiles. “We came to a compromise on the dresses, and the rest just fell into place.”
With the wedding scheduled for late September, the ceremony was “short, funny, and hot.” “Our pastor was fantastic. He kept the ceremony light-hearted just like we wanted,” says the bride. Both the ceremony and reception were held at Wine & Roses Hotel, Restaurant and Spa in Lodi. In the cozy Cellar Room, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner, divine cake and music courtesy of Sound Image Entertainment.
“The DJ, Brandon, could not have been more accommodating,” says Candace. “His wife Kami coordinated the entire event to flow smoothly, including everything from keeping me hydrated to pacing the evening’s events. They even made sure all of my rentals from the flower shop were packed up and returned since we were leaving on our honeymoon.
Both Candace and Zac remember their day being everything they dreamed it could be. “The moment I will remember forever was walking down the aisle and seeing my husband-to-be. He looked so handsome,” Candace shares. “We had taken our pictures prior to the ceremony so we could spend more time with our guests at the reception. I thought that opportunity had killed my nerves...absolutely not! I started bawling while walking down the aisle. The reality just hit me.”
