Tell us a little about you and your beloved: I was in college at UC Davis and Alex was  stationed at Travis AFB in Fairfield.  We were both 21. My best friend was getting married, I was her maid of honor and Alex was a groomsman. A few weeks before her wedding my BF arranged for us to meet at her house unbeknownst to me. We hit it off instantly and began dating.
After being together for four years, he got orders to New Hampshire, so I followed him. We got engaged in the White Mountains of New Hampshire the weekend before Valentine’s day. He took me out to a nice restaurant and stood up in front of everyone, making a speech professing his love and proposed. I knew it was coming, but didn’t suspect in a million years that it would be at that moment. I remember being so embarrassed! It was not the  intimate just him and I proposal I always expected. Of course I said yes, and the crowd all clapped and cheered. I spent the rest of the night showing off my ring.
We put off planning the wedding for a few years because Alex’s military career kept us from being around either our families. His family is in Illinois while my family is in California. We were comfortable being engaged and were not in any rush to get married. We knew we were in it for the long haul either way.
What was the most amazing part of your day? Sharing our first dance. It was the first moment we had a chance to live in the moment and appreciate the depth of what we had just accomplished.
